ADA-Accessible Food Truck Request The Puyallup School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program is seeking information regarding the availability of an ADA-accessible food truck to expand student access to its culinary education program. The District currently operates a non-ADA-accessible food truck and is interested in obtaining a vehicle with equipment and capabilities that are substantially similar to the existing unit while incorporating limited accessibility features. The District is not seeking a fully ADA-compliant mobile kitchen with a complete interior redesign. Rather, the primary objective is to provide meaningful access for students who use wheelchairs by incorporating a wheelchair lift or similar accessibility solution that allows them to safely enter the truck, observe operations, participate in instruction, and experience the mobile kitchen environment alongside their peers. Vendors may propose: A new or used food truck with an integrated wheelchair lift or ramp. A food truck that can be modified to include a wheelchair lift. Alternative accessibility solutions that achieve the District's objective while maintaining the functionality of the mobile kitchen. The District welcomes innovative approaches that maximize accessibility, safety, and educational participation while preserving the operational capabilities of a commercial food truck. The proposed solution should comply with all applicable safety requirements and accessibility standards for the features being provided. While the District is not requesting a fully ADA-compliant vehicle, any accessibility equipment (such as a wheelchair lift) should be installed and operated in accordance with applicable ADA and vehicle safety requirements.
