Town of Oxford - Winter Sand - Invitation to Bid

The Town of Oxford is seeking proposals for Winter Sand for the Oxford Public Works Department. Submit sealed proposals marked Winter Sand Bid to Adam Garland, Town Manager, 127 Pottle Road, Oxford, ME 04270. Bids are due September 15, 2026, at 10 AM and will be opened and read aloud at the Oxford Town Office. Specifications for the Winter Sand Bid are available at www.oxfordmaine.org or the Oxford Town Office. Specifications: Contractor's supply and delivery of winter sand to the Town for the 2026-2027 winter season. Sale of Goods. The Contractor agrees to sell to the Town, and the Town agrees to purchase from the Contractor 3,000 cubic yards of screened winter sand meeting the following specifications: - Aggregate shall be clean sand of hard, durable, sharp-grained particles free from vegetable or organic matter, lumps or balls of clay, or other deleterious substances. - The gradation shall meet the grading requirements as follows: Sieve Designation mesh sieve % weight passing square 1/2 inch 100% #4 80-100% #50 0-35% #200 0-3% - Sand may be subject to further testing by the Town or a third party. Delivery. - Delivery of winter sand by Contractor shall be coordinated with the Town of Oxford Public Works Foreman. - Delivery will be made to the Oxford Public Works Department, 1162 Main Street, Oxford, Maine 04270. - Delivery of winter sand shall be no earlier than Thursday, October 1, 2026, and no later than Friday, October 30, 2026. - Each delivery shall be accompanied by a delivery slip, and those slips shall be signed by the Public Works Foreman or his designee. - Title to and risk of loss of winter sand shall pass to the Town upon acceptance of delivery by the Public Works Foreman. ***Winter Sand Purchase and Sale Agreement will require the contract price and signature upon acceptance by the Board of Selectmen.
