NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND TO BIDDERS CITY OF AMES, IOWA SPLIT TREATMENT MODIFICATIONS PROJECT WATER & POLLUTION CONTROL DEPARTMENT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECT Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, will meet in Council Chambers at City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at 6:00 p.m. on October 13, 2026, at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said Split Treatment Modifications Project at the Water Treatment Plant. City of Ames Contract No. 2027-018. Sealed bids will be received by the City Council for said project in accordance with the plans and specifications now posted online at ames.bids.ionwave.net (AmesBids), and said bids shall be submitted electronically in AmesBids prior to 2:00 p.m. local time, on the 23rd day of September, 2026, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud via Teams at the web link https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/284340751086703?p=UPNMbWn1hKgjAGGhEo . All bids received after the deadline for submission of bids as stated herein will not be considered. Bidders must be a registered supplier to submit a bid in AmesBids. Bidders are encouraged to create bids early with the required attachments. Contractor assumes all risk associated with submission of their bid. The City Manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with his recommendations thereon, to the Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. local time on October 13, 2026. Complete digital bidding documents are available at amesbids.ionwave.net at no cost. Paper copies thereof may be obtained by submitting a request to the City Purchasing Division by emailingpurchasing@cityofames.org. AmesBids is the only authorized source of bid documents. Bid documents obtained from any other source may be incomplete. Bidders using a bid form not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division are advised to contact the City of Ames Purchasing Division to provide a contact name and email address to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is installation of a new pipe, valves, pumps, and fittings for split treatment modifications at the Ames Water Treatment Plant, located at 1800 E. 13th Street, Ames, IA 50010. Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on September 15, 2026. Said questions may be submitted to amesbids.ionwave.net or emailed to Amanda Moore, Procurement Specialist, at amanda.moore@cityofames.org. All bids shall be submitted in AmesBids on or before the time set herein for the bid opening. Bids shall be made on the Bid Form furnished in AmesBids. Each bid shall include the bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. After award and approval of contract and performance bond, work on this contract shall be substantially completed no later than March 26, 2027. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. As required by Iowa Administrative Code 875, Chapter 156, the bidder shall complete and submit the Bidder Status Form with its bid. By completing and submitting the Bidder Status Form, the bidder is certifying their resident status. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes.
