The Nez Perce Tribe Department of Fisheries Resources Management (DFRM) is seeking proposals for the installation of a floating Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag detection system. This system is intended for use in the lower Clearwater River, upstream of Lewiston, Idaho. The primary objective is to achieve a 10% detection rate of juvenile salmonids with PIT tags. The site currently has existing infrastructure, including a skyline cable system, which proposals must accommodate or suggest alternatives for.The selected contractor will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive solution that includes engineering analysis, system construction, delivery, installation, testing, and training. The engineering analysis will involve evaluating the structural integrity of the existing anchoring system and recommending safe modifications or alternative systems. The construction phase will involve building the new detection system and ensuring it is operational by March 1, 2027.The system must meet specific technical requirements, including compatibility with ISO 11784/11785 compliant PIT tags, adherence to PTAGIS data standards, and the ability to operate off-grid using solar power. It should also feature robust safety and communication systems, including marine safety lights and remote management capabilities.Contractors must demonstrate specialized expertise in similar projects and provide detailed information on alternative anchoring systems if the existing infrastructure is deemed inadequate. The proposal deadline is September 30, 2026, and the project leader is Peter Cleary, who can be contacted for further information.
