2026 Citywide ADA & Sidewalk Bond Package

The City of Birmingham is seeking sealed bids for the 2026 Citywide ADA & Sidewalk Bond Package Project # ENG 2026-004. Bids must be submitted to the City Engineer in Suite 220 of City Hall, Birmingham, Alabama by Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Bids will be publicly opened and read in Suite 220 Conference Room starting at 2:00 p.m. It is the responsibility of the bidder to ensure their bid is received by the City Engineer before the opening time. Late bids will not be considered. Bids can be submitted via the bid box in Room 220 City Hall, hand-delivered to the City Engineer, or brought to the bid opening. This project involves constructing ADA accessible ramps, concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, and paving, along with tree removal and utility adjustments. A MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room 220 City Hall. Bid documents are available for public inspection at the Office of the City Engineer in Suite 220, City Hall, 710 20th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203. Bidders may view and purchase bid documents through the City of Birmingham online plan room at https://www.birminghamplanroom.com/. Bidders are responsible for any reproduction costs. Bids must include a cashier's check or bid bond for 5% of the bid amount (maximum $10,000) payable to the City of Birmingham. Bid bonds for the three lowest bidders will be held for 90 days unless extended in writing. A performance bond and payment bond, both equal to 100% of the contract amount, will be required from the successful bidder. Liability insurance certificates listing the City of Birmingham as additional insured will also be required. Only bids from General Contractors licensed in Alabama will be accepted. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked '2026 Citywide ADA & Sidewalk Bond Package' and include the contractor's license number and company name. The sealed envelope must contain specific documents including the Form of Proposal, Sales Tax Attachment, bid bond or certified check, MBE/DBE Forms, and other required documentation. This project encourages participation from Minority Business Enterprises and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. Bidders should contact the Birmingham Construction Industry Authority for potential subcontractor lists and MBE/DBE form submissions. The City of Birmingham reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
